BeAnywhere is a service that allows you to access your remote pc from any other computer in the world and take control over all your files and applications. BeAnywhere - which we already covered in another article on MasterNewMedia - has recently released a new version which now enables users to connect to their remote pc without the need to install anything on their local computer.
The control panel of BeAnywhere
BeAnywhere features file transferring between the local pc and your remote computer, with the ability to sync up all files and let you access them from any location. You can also generate links to files on your remote pc and give them to users that you want to access your computer.
Being this service completely web-based for the remote user, the only requirement is to use Internet Explorer as your browser and enable ActiveX controls. BeAnywhere is actually available only for Windows-based computers (both the local and the remote one).
Here is a more detailed description of its features:
Remote control

BeAnywhere allows you to access your remote computer from any other locations. When you are away from your main computer, you will need to log in with your BeAnywhere account at www.beanywhere.com.
Once you are there, you need to select the computer you want to control: at this point, an ActiveX control will automatically load (you will need to have Internet Explorer in order to use BeAnywhere).
Before connecting to the remote control, BeAnywhere asks you to fill in the "master" password, which you will have previously generated during the installation of BeAnywhere. At this point, a pop-up window appears, showing you the screen of your remote computer and allowing you to use it as if you were sitting at your desk.
File transferring and synchronization

Once you are connected to your remote computer, it is possible to transfer files from your local computer to the remote one and viceversa. You can resume file transfers and choose to transfer individual files or entire folders. It is also possible to control the priority of the ongoing transfers and define the access level of your guests.
With BeAnywhere it is also possible to synchronize unlimited number of files and folders between your local and remote computers, thus making sure you have access to all your files on any computers.
File share

The "File Share" command automatically generates a secure link that you can give away to other users to let them download a file directly from your computer. You can control how long the file will be available, to whom and how many times it can be downloaded. This option is particularly useful when you need to share big files.
Invite guests

The "Guest Invite" feature enables you to invite a friend to view the desktop of your computer, share the control of mouse and keyboard and transfer files. Guest Invite feature creates a temporary user account and you can set an expiration date to this account and restrict the access to your computer by disabling the controls you don't want to share.
