Deliver Powerpoint Presentations On The Web: Teamslide

Teamslide is a web-based cross-platform server software that allows you to deliver live web PowerPoint presentations while integrating a simple and effective invitation management function.

Teamslide allows the direct import of PowerPoint presentations on the Windows platform and has a live capacity of five or more users, depending on your web server characteristics.

As mentioned above, teamslide requires its software to be downloaded and installed on a web server to work.

A wide range of cost-effective one-time licenses are offered, starting from the single presenter license at US$ 99.

Teamslide displays an extremely clean, uncluttered and user-friendly interface: once you log in as a presenter, you will find the control bar on your left, showing you information about the presenters and the participants of the session.

All of teamslide attendees into a session can see the full list of the slides titles, the names of the other attendees and, obviously, the current slide being presented.

The presenter is also in full and firm control of the entire presentation as attendees can't intervene or be elected to become presenters themselves.

You can easily invite people to assist to your presentation by sending emails with a personal invitation code.

teamslide also allows personalization of email invitations, though this requires opening a PHP file in a text editor. Unless you're familiar with PHP files, you might want to ask for help, or make a backup before you edit anything. The text for the email invitation can be found in the following file: includes\languages\english.php

The Slidesets tab gives you control over the material that you will use for your presentation: you are enabled to edit the slidesets by setting up each slide's title and position.

Once all attendees are connected to Teamslide, you, as the presenter, only need to use the navigation bar below the main window to start the presentation.

Teamslide allows you to import slides created with PowerPoint and save them on your web space, so that you can show them to all attendees with full remote control over them.

A PowerPoint software add-in automatically converts PowerPoint files in Teamslide's format. Once installed the add-in will display a Teamslide button on your PowerPoint toolbar (PC). The optional PowerPoint add-in is Windows-only.

Those running Macs or Linux need to create a zip standard PowerPoint presentation file instead of using the PowerPoint add-in.

For those of you not utilizing PowerPoijnt to create your presentations, you can upload your presentations to teamslide equally by first converting your presentations to image files -- either JPG, GIF or PNG -- and then by zipping those files.

One thing to note is that if you have animations on any of your PowerPoint slides, they will not be converted into your final teamslide presentation.

Teamslide converts all PowerPoint slides and images into an optimized JPG format trying to balance the need for quality across different displays.

Teamslide is designed for up to five participants and a presenter. However, the developers say they have tested presentations with more than 20 participants without problems.

System requirements

Teamslide is completely cross-platform, as it is fully web-based. You only need to install in on your server and then you will be able to access it from any supported web-browser. Teamslide currently works works on Windows, Mac and Linux with browsers Firefox 1.5, Safari 2.0 and Internet Explorer 6.

Only the optional PowerPoint add-in is Windows-only.
