Today, Santa Cruz Networks launches Festoon Unity, a new feature addition to its Skype and Google Talk plug-in, allowing Festoon users to seamlessly make voice-over-IP calls and multi-party videoconferences with both Google Talk and Skype users at the same time.
In early 2006 Festoon will be bridging also to the other popular instant messengers out there for the ambitious goal of making it possible to voice and videoconference seamlessly with anyone logged onto any of popular IMs among Yahoo Messenger, AOL IM, MSN Messenger, Skype and Google Talk.
With Festoon, reviewed upon its initial launch a month ago, users can also utilize a basic screen-sharing facility and have fun with the use of some of the uniquely personalized video backgrounds and special effects that Santa Cruz Networks has long premiered in this field.

In addition, in the near future, Santa Cruz Networks, the company behind Festoon, will also be releasing a series of web services that will anyone to easily add a video communication facility to their site.
Also, according to the company, users will be able to download additional video effects and personalized experiences, access a library of camera personalities, wallpapers, and more.
In this new release of the Festoon plug-in there are a few important enhancements and additions. These include:
- significantly improved video speed
- better voice and video synchronization
- enhanced group audio
- automatic proxy support
- new EyeCandy personalizations
