Screen-Sharing And PowerPoint Presentation Delivery: Persony VShow Review

Persony (pronounced: per-so-nee) is a new Flash-based web conferencing tool that allows you to screen share, deliver PowerPoint presentations, work on a shared whiteboard and communicate via VoIP (one-to-many) in a very cost-effective integrated solution.

Persony integrates with the Skype API allowing Skype users to continue using their preferred VoIP tool while utilizing Persony's conferencing facilities.

Persony adds also full recording facilities enabling all audio and visual components to be made available for playback after the session has ended.

Persony, which is available in three different configurations (VShow LE, VShow and VShow Professional, requires a Web server to be installed upon.

The following short review focuses on Persony VShow Professional edition.

The installation and configuration process is quite simple, download the installer and run it on your PC. Once installed in your computer Persony will ask you the FTP settings in order to set up the server. You will have to do this only once. Persony runs on any standard web server, with no special requirements.

After the installation is completed, you can start creating new meetings and for each new one, Persony will issue an ID number and URL that you can use to invite the attendees. The URL can be sent via email or Skype.

During a Persony-based meeting the presenter can share his/her screen, display a PowerPoint Presentation, interact using a whiteboard, and share files.

VoIP webcast audio (one-to-many) is also supported along with a basic text chat facility.

Persony-based meetings and respective audio/text conversations can be fully recorded and on the management side Persony allows scheduling of meetings and the integrated ability to add them to any Outlook based Agenda.

Persony adds a fully-featured polling feature which integrates multiple-choice questions and the ability to display results in real-time.

Persony also allows the branding of your Web-based meeting room with your logo and specific music tracks can be selected for automatic playback before the meeting actually begins.

Finally, VShow logs all your meeting activities, including meeting time, attendee names, and polling results, in daily reports. You can export the reports in text, html or xml formats.

Maximum capacity for Persony VShow Professional is 25 people.

The host can also request user registration and restrict the access to the meeting by creating a custom password.

The only technical requirement to attend a meeting is a web browser with the Flash player installed, no software downloads or configurations are needed for Persony to function.

Unlike similar conferencing software centered around a strong screen-sharing engine, like GoToMeeting or Glance, Persony does not involve a monthly fee but a one-time license fee.

Persony Vshow Pro costs $299 and that is the only fee you'll have to pay (Vshow LE: $99 and Vshow $199).

A 30-day free trial is also available. And don't worry if you don't have a web server you can directly access. You can still test Persony Vshow by using the free server-based account that comes with the trial.
