Next Tuesday, January the 11th at 12pm NY time (6pm GMT), the InSync Center will run an online free event entitled "How to Learn Online" and focusing on learning in the synchronous environment.
The online event goal is the one of demystifying real-time conferencing and communication technologies for normal end users as to facilitate their postive consideration of synchronous tools for online learning.
This specific session explores the use of synchronous collaboration tools such as the whiteboard, text chat facilities, audio over IP, co-browsing and many others.
On the agenda is also participants familiarization with synchronous learning ground rules, as well as how to go about creating optimal virtual environments for online learning.
Event Technical Requirements:
The Virtual Classroom is accessible on both PC and Macintosh platforms.
The minimum PC requirements are:
Pentium II 266 Mhz with 64MB of memory and a sound card.
The minimum Mac requirements are:
G3 233 Mhz with 64MB of memory when using OS 9.0 - 9.2 or 128MB of memory when using OS X.
To get maximum benefit from using the Virtual Classroom, users should have speakers or headphones; a microphone is recommended but not required.
It is also suggested to download the conferencing software at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the first virtual session you plan to attend.
When you log in for the first time, you may be prompted to download Sun Microsystem's Java Web Start (or OpenJNLP for Mac), a pre-requisite for the vClass Meeting Room. You only need to do this the first time you use the InSync Virtual Classroom.
