We all have major events in our lives.
They are personal, professional and the ones that make us feel part of society on local, national and global levels.
EventLab is about how the world's rapid changes are leading us to think more about how virtual, digitally-sparked events impact us."
Alex Williams - Corante Managing Director of Events
"We will interview people about the events in their lives.
We'll look at how events are re-defined with the advent of citizen media and the wide open use of digital media technologies.
We'll take a sharp, critical look at the use of web conferencing and webcasting applications.
As these applications rapidly evolve, we'll use our "lab," to test them and apply them to the work we do.
As we are believers in syndication applications, we'll take a particular interest in how podcasting is evolving.
We'll interview conference organizers and pose tough questions about what they are trying to achieve. We'll take a fresh look at how events act as special times in our life and how they are enhanced or detracted by the advent of digital technologies."
Yes,
EventLab is a new collaborative online magazine fueled by the ideas and views of an enthusiastic group of pioneering communication technologists.
Alex Williams of
Decisioncast, a company who has worked hard to raise everyone awareness about the use and application of RSS feeds and the use of blogs and wikis to complement live events, has been invited by
Corante.com to become their online events managing director.
Together with Alex,
Eric Rice and
Gregory Narain are the first two key contributors to this new unique online reporting resource.

Eric Rice is who you get when you mix an entertainment, technology, and a passion for live communication. Eric is a fireball of energy, ideas and insight, which have come from his long standing pioneering attitude and strong communication skills. Eric is the man behind Audioblog.com, one of the premiere services allowing reporters to record audio clips and commentaries and to post them on their blog/news sites with extreme ease. He just launched a new video blogging service in the past weeks and his daily podcasts are definitely worth listening to.

Gregory Narain is a dynamic entrepreneur, passionate technologist and a part-time sociologist interested in understanding and promoting the intelligent use of new media technologies as key complements to traditional business and
consumer behavior. Recently, Greg founded the Spark Identity Company, a social networking application/accessory that facilitates both on- and offline personal interactions while you can read his personal reporting, news and rants at http://www.socialtwister.com.
At EventLab, Alex and the lab crew will explore how the creation and production of events is being transformed by the use of new media communication and collaboration technologies, and how this evolution affects the economic, social and logistical aspects of any such event.
When you add a blog, a wiki, an RSS feed or a parallel live audio/video casting channel to a conference, seminar or workshop, what does really happen?
How can we extend, improve and evolve the use of the so many new technologies at our disposal to make such events richer, more interactive and accessible to wider and wider audiences?
Thanks to Alex Williams, who just invited me to join the Corante ranks at EventLab, from where I will be happy to report about my cutting edge views of how online events should be.
Physical events can be truly transformed, extended and enriched by intelligently leveraging new media communication, syndication and collaboration technologies.
Stay tuned.
