Groove Goes Mobile: PopG Does It Again

PopG, the company that makes Groove Virtual Office accessible to Macs and Linux PCs announces today another breakthrough solution by providing mobile users on Palm devices direct access to Groove hotsync capability and key features.

The new PopG service, is enabled via DDH Software’s Mobile-TS plugin for the Palm.

The new plugin provides Palm users access to Groove discussion, database, e-mail, calendaring and project functions.

With this Web/wireless-only Groove service, any organization can use wireless-enabled Palm handhelds and other handheld devices to extend their Groove usage beyond desktop or laptop computers allowing mobile users to remain in contact with their Groove workspaces no matter where they are.

The hotsync feature enables users to synchronize messages, addresses, calendars and tasks between their Palm devices and their Outlook & Groove accounts.

An interesting example of the possibilities emerging from this mobile use of such a powerful collaboration technology is well exemplified by this testimonial reported by PopG's own press office:

“I feel very strongly that handhelds in medicine combined with Groove & PopG could take mobile and point of service care to the next level.
Given the appropriate development I could potentially store an entire practice worth of patient data or key facts on a Groove space to access via WiFi or GPRS as needed. I could take notes during rounds in the hospital and sync them back to my office before I have left the building,
” says Kenneth Alleyne, MD.
He continues, “Currently I take pictures of X-rays with my Sony Clie UX50 connect to a local WiFi node and send them off to one of my partners for consultation.

Wouldn't it be easier to take that same image and upload to a Groove space that can be archived and potentially viewed by ANY of my colleagues at once? If appropriate forms were to be developed for the Palm you could have the beginning of a Groove based EMR/EC which I am extremely interested in seeing come to fruition.”

PopG also supports the use of Groove on other handheld devices, including RIM* and Windows* CE/Pocket PC devices.

Pricing: Mobile-TS plugin USD $39.99
immediately available at www.ddhsoftware.com.

PopG for Groove Virtual Office starts at USD $30/person/month.

Groove Virtual Office starts at $69 per user (one-time).
