Our organizations are expending a great deal of time, effort, and money trying to make (online work collaboration) easier.
Many companies try strategies that include portals, extranets, VPNs, and browser-based applications-strategies that at best have been only partially successful (e.g., for workers that can always find a broadband connection and can access the requisite server) and frequently have made life for the virtual team even more complicated and frustrating.
What ultimately suffers is organizational productivity and effectiveness, as well as individual efficiency. What is needed in our new virtual workplace is a way to recreate the model of the physical office, where everybody and everything is easily available from anywhere at anytime.
