An interesting collaborative event took place recently online which brought together inside a live videoconference musicians playing from two distant world locations: Stockholm and Stanford. According to a short report published by the the Creative Commons "Music Professor Chris Chafe played his celleto with Berkeley musician Roberto Morales, left, in Wallenberg Hall during an intercontinental jam session June 18 that took advantage of sophisticated teleconference technology." As I can see it, this is only the tip of the iceberg, as more real-time collaborative solutions will soon emerge allowing normal people to sing, jam and perform together independently of their actual physical distance. It is fascinating to note that also audience members in Stanford and Stockholm were able to watch each other.
